Assistant-in-Training
Cliffhangers at Big Cedar Lodge is seeking an Assistant in Training to join our team. We are located in Branson, Missouri, and are looking for an individual who is motivated to develop their skills in turf and golf course management. This individual will have the opportunity to learn from industry leaders that are a part of the Big Cedar Golf Network. This role will also come with potential to advance within the company.

Big Cedar Lodge is a high-end resort golf destination that is quickly becoming one of the best in the world. Big Cedar was recently ranked the number one golf resort in the United States by USA Today and a Top Ten golf resort by Forbes. The portfolio is made up of six golf courses designed by some of the world’s best golfers and golf course architects. In 2025 we hosted the Internet Invitational as well as a few other major internal tournaments. In 2026 we will be hosting the John Deere World Championship as well as a few other tournaments that will demand conditions to be maintained at a very high level.

About Cliffhangers:
Cliffhangers is a par 3 golf course that is unlike any other course in the world. The golf course traverses a cliff, cuts through waterfalls and even has a tee box out of a cave. Cliffhangers is the newest course at Big Cedar Lodge, opening for play on July 4, 2025. Together Johnny Morris and his son John Paul created a one-of-a-kind par 3 wonderland.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the golf course maintenance team in providing guests with the best possible playing conditions.
- Assist in all aspects of daily course setup and management.
- Be involved with operation of the Rainbird irrigation system.
- Be precise and reliable with hand watering greens and other stressed areas.
- Tournament preparation.
- Be able to operate all equipment used on the golf course.
- Lead and be responsible for aspects of verticutting, topdressing, aeration and other agronomic practices.
- Responsible for training new employees in daily tasks as well as machine operation.
- Assist the Sr. Assistant Superintendent and Spray Technician with chemical and fertilizer applications and record keeping.
- Work with leadership to maintain a culture that leads to daily, successful high standards.
- Will have the opportunity to lead crews and projects.
- Winter snow removal.
Required Skills:
- Degree in Turfgrass Management or related field.
- Golf course maintenance experience.
- Ability to solve problems and think critically.
- Willingness to learn.
