Golf Course Superintendent
Grande Dunes Members Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Golf Course Superintendent to lead the agronomy operations at one of the premier private golf clubs along the South Carolina coast.
This opportunity has become available following the promotion of the current superintendent to a Director of Agronomy role overseeing two properties within the Heritage Golf Group portfolio. The promotion reflects the strength of the agronomy program at Grande Dunes and the company’s commitment to developing talent from within.
Grande Dunes Members Club is recognized for its exceptional playing conditions, member-focused culture, and stunning coastal setting along the Intracoastal Waterway. The next superintendent will have the opportunity to build upon an already strong agronomic foundation while continuing to elevate the course conditioning and team culture.
Position Summary
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomy operations, including turfgrass management, irrigation systems, personnel leadership, budgeting, and long-term agronomic planning. The superintendent will work closely with club leadership to ensure the course consistently delivers outstanding conditions and an exceptional member experience.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a talented team, manage a well-supported operation, and continue enhancing one of the Myrtle Beach area’s premier private golf courses.
Primary Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all golf course maintenance and agronomic operations

Recruit, train, mentor, and develop the agronomy team

Develop and implement agronomic programs including fertility, pest management, and cultural practices

Manage and maintain the irrigation system, water usage, and moisture management programs

Prepare and manage departmental budgets, purchasing, and inventory controls

Maintain detailed records of chemical applications, regulatory compliance, and maintenance activities

Coordinate course setup to deliver consistent championship-level playing conditions

Collaborate with club leadership to support capital improvement projects and long-term course planning

Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and professional development within the maintenance department
Educational Requirements
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field preferred
Experience Requirements

5+ years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with leadership experience preferred

Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices in the Southeast region

Experience managing irrigation systems and water management programs

South Carolina pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain)

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Passion for developing team members and maintaining high performance standards
Special Requirements
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA), class A.
- Pesticide Application certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
