2nd Assistant Superintendent
Isleworth Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole private facility located outside of Orlando Florida. We are number 13 on the Platinum Clubs of the America list. Home to many PGA, LPGA, and Senior Tour members, we pride ourselves in providing tournament conditions on a daily basis. In 2024 the course underwent a total greens and bunker renovation, turf replacement of tees, fairways and rough, and implementation of naturalized areas to reduce turf and conserve water. We have plans to continue improvements to driving range and short game practice area. A new pump station was installed in 2021, and all irrigation lines were replaced with HDPE in this process as well as new Toro heads and controls for the system.
The position is designed to strengthen the candidate's skills and prepare them for advancement in the turfgrass industry. AIT will work closely with the superintendent and his assistants in all aspects of course maintenance. Areas of intense training will include chemical and fertilizer applications, irrigation scheduling and maintenance, scouting, tournament and daily course preparation and routine maintenance. AIT has the opportunity to experience all aspects of a high-level maintenance operation with a staff willing to answer all questions and share valuable information.
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a drive to succeed in a fast-paced team environment, with the understanding of the commitment it takes to maintain a premier golf course daily. The AIT will be an important member of the turf management team and will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to advance their career in the golf course maintenance industry.
Educational Requirements
A 2 or 4 year degree in Turf Management or currently enrolled in Turf Management.
Minimum 2 years of golf course maintenance experience.
Experience Requirements
Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
Help diagnose specific diseases and treat insects that affect critical areas of the courses. As well as identify and treat unwanted vegetation, using both preventative and curative methods.
Spray prescribed amounts of fertilizer, insecticide, herbicide and fungicide when needed.
Assist Superintendents with correct calibrations of all spray equipment.
Maintain daily spray records.
Special Requirements
Must have or be able to obtain a Florida pesticide applicators license within 90 days of employment.
Must be able to work in Florida climate.
Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.
