Finishing up: Road trip with family...
Going on a week-long road trip is a great way to wind up my stay in Ireland. After finishing up my internship at Adare Manor last week, I spent this week traveling around the Wild Atlantic Way with my parents and brother.
Before I left Adare Manor, I had the chance to visit the Adare Manor Golf Club, the neighboring course of the Adare Manor Resort. The superintendent of this course is Brian Dunne, and he has been at this course for 21 years. Brian has such a unique property to work with because of its history. The course has 90 acres and six par-3s.
In the middle of the course, there is a beautiful Abbey dating back to 1464 AD. The 14th green plays right to it, and all the other holes play around it. But it doesn't look easy to play because of the narrow fairways with trees surrounding every side.
After visiting with Brian, my parents picked me up with a rental car and we headed north to start our journey. We started up north at Slieve League on the coast of Co.Donegal and then took the western coastal roads all the way down to Cork before making our way back up to Dublin airport.
Traveling with my family is a great way to finish off my time in Ireland. I can't wait to come back again in the future.
