Responsible for overseeing and supervising semi-skilled and skilled employees performing grounds-keeping, landscape maintenance, and construction work for the Villages of Citrus Hills. Responsible for implementing the maintenance of gates, roads, lights, landscaping and grounds maintenance. Follows maintenance schedules, trims, prunes, and applies herbicides and pesticides. Ensures employees receive proper training and that performance and quality standards are met and maintained. Responsible for performing some routine administrative and personnel duties. Minimum Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent, and 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in grounds maintenance work, preferably in turf and landscape maintenance, irrigation installation and maintenance, sports turf maintenance and grounds maintenance equipment operation; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be licensed by the state of Florida as a Certified Pesticide Applicator or must be willing to obtain such license within 6 months of employment. Must be dependable and in good physical condition. Safety shoes required. Supplemental Information Work is performed outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to the usual hazards associated with outside maintenance work. Physical Demands Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including tandem dump trucks, tractor-trailers, push and riding mowers, blowers, power tools, etc. There is a great deal of walking and getting in and out of vehicles when checking work in progress. There is bending, stooping, walking, and lifting when performing the work of the crew. Must live within a commutable distance to Citrus County.
