Congressional Country Club is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Grounds Superintendent to join the team. Congressional boasts two 18-hole championship golf courses. The Blue Course was recently transformed and designed by Andrew Green. The upcoming season will also be highlighted by the Club’s Centennial year and the 2024 Junior PGA Championship. The Clubhouse grounds encompass nearly 38 acres of maintained turf, floral gardens, and naturalized areas surrounding the Club’s historic clubhouse. Located in Bethesda, MD, Congressional Country Club is the #1 Platinum Club in the country. Congressional has a long history of hosting Championships, including the 2011 US Open and most recently the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. What will be expected of you: The Assistant Grounds Superintendent will be involved in the daily maintenance of the Clubhouse grounds and will work closely with the Clubhouse Grounds Superintendent. The Assistant Grounds Superintendent will manage and perform fertilizer/pesticide calibration as well as proper application practices. Daily jobs will include but not limited to planting, irrigation repair, disease identification, water management of different plant varieties, mowing, edging, pruning, etc. The Assistant Grounds Superintendent will lead small projects with the team, as advised by the Clubhouse Grounds Superintendent. Supervise team members to ensure they are working responsibly and adhering to mandated Safety procedures Log/record keeping of daily activities Building and ability to follow budget guidelines Perform other functions and routine landscape operations activities as directed by the Clubhouse Grounds Manager Work with Golf Course Superintendents to conduct weekly safety meetings Operate rotary mowers, string trim around trees, shrubs, posts, etc. Perform manual weeding, edge sidewalks, landscape beds, etc. Lay sod, apply mulch Operate blowers (such as push, backpack, and handheld), vacuums and other hand tools Operate utility vehicles, tractor, loader backhoe, boom lifts, chainsaws, and a verity of powered equipment Perform calibrations of application equipment and complete applications with proper PPE Maintain and repair irrigation systems and controllers Perform daily tasks necessary to keep the maintenance facility clean and organized to maintain a safe working environment Inspect all machines (before, during and after use) and report any deficiencies to the Equipment Manager

Sports Turf Specialist Job Summary: Under the direction of the Sports Turf Manager oversee the maintenance of all athletic fields with an emphasis on athlete safety, fair play and visual appeal. The venues to be maintained: Memorial Stadium, Mellencamp Pavilion, Football Practice, Field Hockey, Jerry Yeagley Field, Bart Kaufman Field, Billy Hayes Track Complex, Sam Bell XC Course, Andy Mohr Field, Men’s and Women’s Practice Soccer fields. Job Duties: Complete appropriate testing and maintenance of all-natural grass and synthetic playing surfaces. Daily activities will include but not be limited to mowing, painting, field marking, string trimming and irrigation maintenance. Field renovation work will also be a major component of this position. Maintain the non-athletic field surfaces in terms of string trimming and mowing around the common grounds of the athletic complex. Provide game day support for various athletic events including game day setup duties. This position will require some availability on nights and weekends. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and one year of landscape or grounds related work. Must have substantial knowledge of turf maintenance procedures. Knowledge of tools, equipment, field marking techniques and materials related to turf management. Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Ability to operate riding and push mower, power edger, blower, tractor, skid steer loader and basic hand and power tools. Ability to perform minor maintenance of grounds related equipment. Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner, must be self-motivated and able to work well independently or as member of a team. Position will require strong communication skills and the ability to work professionally alongside administrators, coaches, student athletes and officials.
