The Lawn Maintenance Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep and appearance of lawns, gardens, and outdoor spaces. Key Responsibilities: - Mow, trim, and edge lawns using various types of equipment, such as lawnmowers, string trimmers, and edgers. - Prune and trim shrubs, bushes, and small trees to maintain shape and appearance. - Remove weeds, dead plants, and debris from flower beds, walkways, and other areas. - Mulch and prepare soil for planting, including adding compost or other soil amendments. - Collect and dispose of leaves, clippings, branches, and other debris from job sites. - Maintain a clean and organized work area during and after tasks are completed. - Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment and materials on job sites. - Communicate any issues or observations about the landscape to the supervisor or Foreman. - Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. - Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.   Lawn Care Technician Position Description Perform skilled and semi-skilled labor in the various aspects of Lawn Care Maintenance. Directly participate in the maintenance and preparation of client’s lawns, train subordinate staff members in techniques to maintain lawns. Experience, special skills, knowledge, and abilities to maintain lawns at the highest competitive levels are required. Receives general supervision from the Operations Manager. Examples of Important Responsibilities and Duties:  Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Perform lawn care and grounds maintenance including aeration, grading, topdressing, seeding, sodding, trimming, turf care, fertilizing; apply plant protectant materials including insecticides, herbicides, soil conditioners and related materials; follow proper safety precautions.   2. Identify equipment needs for each assigned project; organize work methods and procedures; ensure that the proper materials are available.   3. Operate a variety of specialized equipment utilized in assigned projects including tractors, power and hand tools such as weed eaters and related equipment; assist in training others to use specialized equipment as necessary.   4. Check assigned tools and equipment needed for maintenance and repair; make minor repairs and adjustments; report major repairs to supervisor.   5. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Ability to lift and carry 50-pound bags of materials. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Three years of experience and/or college degree in turf management, horticulture, parks and recreation, or a related field. Training: Equivalent to a high school diploma with additional specialized training or educational training in grounds maintenance, horticulture or a related field. Licenses and Certificates: Possession of valid driver’s license. Ability to obtain state Pest Control Applicator and Professional Fertilizer Applicator certificates. Working and Environmental Conditions:  Exposure to dust and dirt, hazards associated with operating a motor vehicle, various chemicals including fertilizers and pesticides, contagious conditions including poison oak and inclement weather conditions. Physical Conditions: Essential and other important duties and responsibilities may require maintaining physical conditions necessary for standing or walking for prolonged periods of time; climbing, kneeling and stooping; moderate to heavy lifting; the use of arms and legs.
