In 2000, Cherokee hosted a Shell’s Wonderful of Golf with David Duvall and Ernie Els. During the summer of 2021, the course underwent an extensive renovation. The renovation included a new Toro Lynx irrigation system, XGD drainage, sand capping the fairways, tees, and approaches, and new grass installed. The fairways were converted to Zorro Zoysia. The tees and approaches were converted to Prizm Zoysia. Future summer projects will include more XGD drainage, tee and bunker additions, and more renovations already underway.

This Larry Packard designed 18-hole golf course (Boots Randolph Golf Course) has USGA greens converted in summer of 2020 to Tifeagle Ultradwarf bermudagrass.
