Winnetka Golf Club is currently seeking a highly motivated turfgrass professional to join our team for the 2026 season. Located on the north shore of Chicago, Winnetka Golf Club is a premier 27 hole public golf facility, featuring an 18 hole championship golf course, as well as a challenging 9 hole par 3 course. The 2nd assistant will play a crucial role in the overall care of both of these golf courses.    About the club: Winnetka golf club was originally designed by William Langford in 1917. The club later built a 9 hole par 3 course on newly acquired land on the south end of the property. The entire property was closed for the better part of 18 months to undergo a full renovation, and opened up to the public again in the fall of 2024. The project was intended to address serious water retention issues, and was consulted on by the army corps of engineers. Led by architect Rick Jacobson, the entire property was stripped of its turf, and recontoured to provide a new challenging playing experience for its patrons.    Changes made during the project include: Newly contoured fairways New green expansions, allowing for more pin locations Addition of multiple new forward and back tees Crystal blue links fairways, tees, and approaches 007/poa greens  Entirely new bunkering New drainage system Significantly improved rainbird irrigation system    The 2nd assistant superintendent will be responsible for many aspects of golf course maintenance, including but not limited to:   Mowing of all short grass surfaces on the golf course Course setup Management of the grounds crew and any summer interns  Granular/spray applications Irrigation troubleshoot/repair Scheduling overnight irrigation Hand watering  Disease scouting   Above all else, we are seeking someone with a strong work ethic and desire to have a career as a golf course superintendent. The 18-hole course is one of Donald Ross’s last original designs and was fully restored in fall 2024 under the direction of architect Gil Hanse, including major irrigation and infrastructure upgrades.  The 140-acre property is located on a secluded private island with vista ocean views.  Greens are 100 yr old untouched bent/poa grass type.  Fairways are bent/poa/rye mix.  Tees are bent/poa mix and rough is bluegrass/fescue/rye/poa mix.  Golf holes and property surrounds are low maintenance fine fescue native areas.

Founded in 1927, Brookside is an upscale private golf and country club located in Columbus, OH between Rt. 315 and Sawmill Rd. The club features a Charlie Lorms designed 18-hole tree-lined golf course and practice facilities with bentgrass / poa annua greens, tees, and fairways. Brookside routinely hosts the U.S. Open Final qualifier following the Memorial Tournament, the last time being in 2023. The course has also been host to the Ohio Mid- Amateur, Ohio Amateur, and the Trans-Miss Amateur Championship. In 2021, Brookside completed a course renovation project designed by architect Brian Silva to construct all new bunkers using the modern Better Billy Bunker process and to place them strategically requiring golfers to think their way around the course. To accommodate the new bunkers, existing tees, fairways, approaches, and greens were altered and several new tees built.  Several drainage needs were completed during the process.
