Key Responsibilities Leadership and Team Management • Supervise and Schedule: Lead and supervise the Equipment Mechanic team, creating an effective and systematic maintenance schedule and tracking work orders to ensure shop productivity. • Recruit and Train: Recruit, interview, hire, and train future team members, promoting the brand's guiding principles and service culture. • Develop Staff: Train, develop, and maintain employee skills and relationships. • Performance Management: Manage staff performance through coaching, progressive discipline, and conducting annual performance reviews. • Time & Attendance: Manage staff time and attendance, prepare schedules, and approve personal time off (PTO). • Promote Safety: Administer safety training, enforce safety guidelines, and establish rules to ensure a safe and secure work environment within the shop and physical plant. Equipment Maintenance and Repair • Inspection and Diagnosis: Inspect, adjust, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects in a wide variety of golf course maintenance equipment and golf carts. • Prioritize Work: Prioritize, coordinate, and perform the servicing, repairs, and overhaul of all equipment. • Specialized Maintenance: Manage and perform specialized tasks such as mower grinding, sharpening, and repairs on small tools like edgers and blowers. • Vehicle Fleet Management: Perform minor repairs on the company’s automobile and shuttle fleet, coordinating all major repairs with the Transportation Department. Shop and Inventory Management • Shop Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized shop. Ensure the inventory stock area is neatly organized and user-friendly for all staff. • System and Records: Utilize the Toro My Turf system to maintain thorough, clear, and up-to-date service records for each piece of equipment. • Inventory Audits: Conduct regular parts inventory audits and keep a daily equipment log of completed work to ensure accurate inventory adjustments in the Toro My Turf system. • Purchasing and Accounting: Manage the requisition of equipment, parts inventory, prepare purchase orders (POs), and process month-end accounting. Receive and verify orders through the purchasing system. Financial Oversight • Budget Management: Manage the shop's annual budget, prepare future budgets, and analyze significant monthly variances to manage the shop in a profitable manner. • Cost Control: Remain budget-conscious and work toward the overall profitability of the resort. Communication and Collaboration • Problem Resolution: Resolve team, vendor, and guest challenges with professionalism and respect. Address problems immediately by involving only necessary personnel to achieve positive results. • Resort Integration: Interact with Resort Operations and Event partners to support special requests, events, and incidents. • Guest Interaction: Interact with golfers, answering questions and providing directions as needed. • Reporting: Attend and conduct meetings as required and report maintenance defects to the Director of Golf Maintenance. • Support Other Departments: Proactively support other departments whenever possible. Compliance and General Duties • Safety and Regulations: Possess a full range of knowledge of all equipment and controls, enforce OSHA safety regulations, and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal government requirements. • Company Policies: Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures. • Assigned Tasks: Be prepared to respond to any reasonable task assigned by the Managing Director or ownership and perform other duties as requested by management. Education, Skills and Experience Experience and Technical Expertise • Mechanical Experience: Minimum of five years’ experience as a turf equipment mechanic, with demonstrated experience repairing both older and newer equipment. • Supervisory Experience: At least two years of experience in a supervisory or management role. • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical diagnosis. Welding skills are a plus. • Turf Equipment Expertise: In-depth knowledge of turf maintenance equipment and golf carts. • Precision Grinding: Proven ability in reel grinding and setup to ensure the highest quality of cut on a 36-hole facility. • Financial Literacy: Ability to read and understand financial reports and budgets. Management and Administrative Skills • Organizational and Management: Strong organizational, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills. • Budget Management: Experience in reading, understanding, and managing budgets. • Computer Proficiency: Strong computer skills including Purchase Order (PO) systems, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other systems. Familiarity with radio systems and mobile apps required. • Independent Work: Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Multitasking: Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment. • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work. Minimum Qualifications • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. • Driver’s License: Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. • Work Schedule: Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, nights, and holidays as required. • Language Proficiency: Proficient in reading safety procedures and operating guidelines in English. Physical Requirements Physical Demands and Endurance • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and/or reach repeatedly. • Capable of being on foot and moving around for an entire shift. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry, pull, and push heavy objects. • Manual dexterity to operate all equipment effectively.
