Position Description We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Grounds Crew Member to join our facilities team on our 120-acre campus. The campus includes nine natural grass athletic fields, two synthetic turf fields, landscaped areas, roads, walkways, and parking lots. The Grounds Crew is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of the campus grounds year-round. This position involves outdoor work in all weather conditions and includes mandatory participation in snow removal and support during major campus events. Position Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance of campus grounds, including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, weeding, pruning, and mulching. Maintain natural grass and synthetic athletic fields to ensure safety and playability. Operate and maintain grounds equipment such as mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, blowers, line trimmers, and other landscaping tools. Assist in planting, trimming, and care of trees, shrubs, and flower beds. · Clear debris and maintain cleanliness of roads, walkways, parking lots, and outdoor areas. · Perform seasonal duties such as leaf cleanup, storm damage repair, and snow and ice removal using plows, blowers, shovels, and salt spreaders. · Support setup and breakdown for events, including athletic events, outdoor gatherings, and campus functions. · Follow safety protocols and ensure proper use of equipment and materials. · Participate in on-call rotations, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent with experience in groundskeeping, landscaping or related outdoor maintenance work required with experience in athletic field maintenance and/or natural turf preferred. This candidate will need to have familiarity with the safe operation and maintenance of power equipment and grounds tools, be able to work independently and as part of a team, be willing to work in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks and must have reliable transportation and be punctual. While not required, the ideal candidate would also have a basic knowledge of irrigation systems, fertilizers, and grounds care techniques and/or a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or willingness to obtain (if required for equipment).
