SUMMARY Mountain Lake is a historic gated community in Lake Wales, approximately 55 miles from Orlando, Florida. Founded in 1916, Mountain Lake was developed with the help of Frederick Olmstead III, and noted golf course architect Seth Raynor. The golf course is often ranked in the top 100 courses in the country. Mountain Lake built the "Colony House" in 1916, which is a seasonal hotel with approximately 32 rooms, and is open for three meals a day from October 1 to May 1. The course has Tif-Eagle bermudagrass greens, Trinity zoysiagrass tees, and Tifway 419 bermudagrass fairways and rough. The Club has retained golf course architect, Tyler Rae, to develop an enhancement plan for the course. This plan has been approved by the Board and will take place starting April 2026. The Club has also retained NMP Golf Construction to perform the work. The work will include the rebuilding of all 18 golf course greens, plus a practice putting green. Furthermore, bunkers will be relocated and reconstructed. Per Tyler’s Plan, golf holes will mainly stay the same, but many of the greens and bunkers will be reshaped/designed back to the original Seth Raynor design, backed by Tyler Rae’s vision. Vintage aerials have been acquired by Tyler and his team, and that plan is mostly based on those pictures. Golf Course Maintenance/Agronomy Intern works directly under the supervision of the Golf Course & Grounds Manager and Senior Assistant Superintendent and is responsible for the maintenance and care of the golf course and related grounds.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:   1. Basic walkmowing (greens, collars/approaches, tees), bunker raking, cutting cups, course setup 2. Flymow bunker faces 3. Basic weedeating, edging, blowing, etc. 4. Mow fairways 5. Aerify and verticut greens and fairways 6. Topdress playing surfaces 7. Irrigation maintenance/repairs 8. Walk-spreading fertilizers 9. Assist in irrigation repair and maintenance 10. Interns will be directly involved with the day-to-day maintenance of an 18-hole private championship Donald Ross-designed golf course (poa/ bentgrass greens, tees, and fairways) and a 9-hole Par 3 Course (warm season Tahoma 31 fairways and tees, and bentgrass putting greens).  Interns will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistants in planning, scheduling, and daily operating procedures.  Calibration, pesticide applications, fertilizing, water management, course setup, and cultural practices will be the core of the internship.  This position will allow the individual to get their “feet wet” in all aspects of golf course maintenance.  The opportunity to lead small crews and motivate staff members will help interns prepare for their next step as an Assistant-In-Training or Assistant Superintendent.  Candidates can expect to work typically 50-60 hours per week with every other weekend OFF.

The Quechee Club is a private 36 hole championship golf and four season private recreational community located in south central Vermont with a current membership level of 1,400 members.  The club is situated on 5,000 acres and also offers a small downhill ski area, X/C skiing, 11 tennis courts, 4 platform courts, indoor & outdoor pools, fitness center, 50 acre recreational lake, polo field, athletic fields, hiking & biking trails, etc.  The surrounding "Upper Valley" area has lots of other outdoor recreational activities along with the cultural offerings of Woodstock, Vermont and Dartmouth College, which is located just across the Connecticut River in Hanover, New Hampshire. The Club has recently gone through a major renovation in 2023 after summer flooding damaged the property.  The property features California greens with A1/A4 Bentgrass surfaces along with bentgrass tees & fairways.  In addition a new HDPE irrigation system installation was completed in 2022 with the installation of a new Rainbird I/C decoder system with double & triple row sprinklers.  During 2023, the club embarked on phase one of a Campus Master plan renovation program to update other facilities and amenities throughout the club. Cantigny Golf is a public 27-hole facility, along with a park/garden and 9-hole short course located in the suburbs of Chicago, about 25 miles west of Downtown. We are currently undergoing a complete renovation of all 27 holes, with 18 finished and the last 9 set to be completed June 1, 2027. We will be renovating our clubhouse and surrounding landscapes this winter of 2025 into 2026. The golf course renovation consists of installing new irrigation and drainage, reshaping and regrassing greens, fairways and tees, and re-building/adding new sand to bunkers. We are working with Todd Quitno Design, Wadsworth Golf Construction Co., and Liebold Irrigation. This project is aimed to re-establish Cantigny as the area's top public golf experience for decades to come. We are currently looking to hire Interns/AIT’s for the 2026 season. Holly Tree Country Club is a private club located in Simpsonville SC, just outside of Greenville. The course was designed by George Cobb and opened in 1973.  In addition to a driving range, putting green, and chipping green, Holly Tree Country Club also offers a private skills area and short course. We are undergoing a major course renovation that started in the Fall of 2025. The scope of this project will include: all greens complexes redesigned, new better billy bunkers, laser level all tee surfaces along with adding new tees, new naturalized areas will be installed, remedial design work on select holes, new irrigation system that consist of all Toro 2 wire and HDPE pipe. Green surfaces will be rebuilt to USGA specs and sprigged with TifEagle. Tahoma 31 will be installed around all greens and tees. All tees will be laser leveled, some will be repositioned, and some will be made larger. We will also be adding new tees on select holes. All greenside and fairway bunkers will be redesigned/repositioned and built back to Better Billy Bunker specs. The golf course will be closed until September 2026 as we complete this renovation. Duininck Golf are the contractors for this renovation and Jeff Lawrence is the architect. We are a 27 hole facility; The Spring Mill course is a William Flynn design consisting of bentgrass greens, tees and fairways. Spring Mill and Centennial ranges have a combined total of 3 Bermudagrass tees and 1 Bentgrass tee. In addition to golf the club has 7 tennis courts and 2 pickleball courts and two brand new Padel courts. Philadelphia Country Club has hosted the 1939 U.S. Open, 2003 U.S. Women’s Amateur and co-hosted the 2005 U.S. Men’s Amateur.  This year we will be co-hosting the 2026 U.S. Men’s Amateur in August.   Interns will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents on every aspect of the daily operation of the course.
