  The Country Club of Detroit is a HS Colt/CH Allison original design from 1912 that has played host to (2) US Amateur Championships, and recently successfully hosted the 2021 US Senior Amateur Championship. The most recent architectural imprint on the property today is with Renaissance Golf Design (Brian Slawnik as lead architect), who completed a large scale renovation in 2010-2011 with complete reconstruction of all greens & tees, as well as re-grassing of fairways & renovating bunkers. A large scale tree management program was initiated at this time as well. Their design has brought back many design parameters with a ground game golf course. There have been recent upgrades as well with green side bunker removals on 4 holes and the incorporation of 2+ acres of bentgrass bailouts for extended playability options.  The Country Club of Detroit, or CCD as it is known to our membership & staff, sits northeast of Downtown Detroit in the vibrant, exclusive suburb of Grosse Pointe Farms. Sleepy Hollow Country Club is a world renowned private, 27-hole C.B MacDonald original design overlooking the Hudson River in Scarborough, New York.  SHCC is currently ranked 52nd in the United States by Golf Digest, and 70th in the world by Golf Magazine.  The 338 acre property consists of a championship 18-hole Upper Course and a 9-hole Lower Course.  Hanse Golf Course Design completed a restoration of the Upper Course in 2016 that converted the greens construction to USGA specification while utilizing the original poa sod.  The Lower Course consists of modified native soil push-up greens, offering candidates a unique opportunity to manage both sand-constructed USGA greens and hundred year old native soil greens on the same property.   Seasonal interns will be an integral part of a strong agronomic team that strives to provide championship level conditioning on a daily basis to our membership and guests.  Interns can expect to be involved in every aspect of the day-to-day operations, with an emphasis placed on plant protectant and fertilizer applications, intensive moisture management techniques, and special projects.  Interns will work directly alongside all Assistants, Superintendents, and the Director of Agronomy, and share many of the same responsibilities.    Internships are available year-round.

Golf was introduced the following year with a six-hole layout, coinciding with the founding of the USGA. By 1897, the Club had purchased the 9.36-acre tract surrounding the Bradley House.   Shooting Star, a Tom Fazio designed 18-hole private facility, opened for play in 2009. The course is located at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Ski Resort, one mile from Grand Teton National Park, and boasts one of the more breathtaking mountain backdrops in the world. The golf season is Mid-May through Mid-October with an elite 15 KM Nordic/Cross-Country ski course maintained from December-April.  The Seasonal Intern(s) at Shooting Star will be a hands-on and active position involved in all aspects of Golf Course Maintenance. Interns work directly under the Assistant Superintendents and Golf Course Manager. The duration of Internships can be between 3-7 months within the timeframe of April-October. Those who begin in April or May and stay through October will experience the unique opportunity of contributing with how the course emerges from lengthy snow cover, evolves to premier conditions, and then prepared for the upcoming winter. World-class bentgrass is maintained on all greens, tees, approaches, and fairways. Kentucky bluegrass roughs, and 126 acres of fine fescue native cover the remaining areas of the 256-acre facility. Examples of daily roles to be performed are chemical/fertilizer mixing & applications, daily mowing, hand watering, irrigation repairs, drainage/course improvement projects, vegetation management, tractor/implement work, course set-up, equipment maintenance, snow removal, management of small crews and more.
