For the last 3 years Boot Ranch has had an assistant selected to go to the Green Start Academy in Pinehurst and in the last two years we have sent an assistant to volunteer at the Memorial Tournament that is played at Muirfield Village. Turf: Greens- 5 acres of Tif- Eagle greens (1 practice chipper is Mini-Verde and 1 is Champion). Tees and Fairways- 30 acres of Tif-Sport Bermuda. Rough- 60 acres of Tif-Sport Bermuda. Day to Day: Assist in the daily maintenance of a high-end golf course that includes, set up, mowing, prepping greens, and spraying. Assist in irrigation management that includes repairs and troubleshooting, setting nightly irrigation plans, and managing and monitoring moisture on greens. Assist in all chemical and fertilizer applications, record keeping, and cleaning and upkeep of all equipment and facilities. Includes experience operating a GPS sprayer. Assist in all special projects and small crew management to complete projects. Participate in and learn all agronomic practices that include aerification, verticutting, top dressing, and daily maintenance and how it affects the turf. Participate in high end conditioning of a full bermuda golf course and getting to see how all the pieces fit together.

Internship Colonial Country Club Colonial Country Club is an 18-hole facility located in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. Founded by Mr. Marvin Leonard in 1936, to bring bentgrass greens to the South, and designed by John Bredemus and Perry Maxwell. Colonial Country Club hosted the 1941 US Open and is host to the longest running annual PGA Tour event at a single site, currently known as the Charles Schwab Challenge.  The golf course has just completed a major renovation led by Hanse Golf Course Design Colonial Country Club is currently looking to fill internship positions for 2023. We are seeking individuals with a strong work ethic, a “team first” mentality, and desire to advance their careers in the industry. Individuals will interact with the Director of Agronomy, Assistant Superintendents and staff to develop knowledge and skills necessary to lead a team and produce championship conditions in the south. Brambles is seeking motivated and passionate students to join our team for the 2026 season.  Located about an hour north of the Napa Valley Wine Country in Middletown, CA, Brambles recently opened the only Coore-Crenshaw designed golf course in California.  While happy with the success of our first two seasons, we are excited to continue to improve the golf course and property as a whole.  The ideology of Brambles is based around old and beloved courses of England and Scotland, with primary focus based on a firm, fast, and playable golf course, while using minimal inputs. Unique to the area, Brambles has wall to wall Zoysiagrass, chosen to reduce water and fertility inputs.  The tees and fairways are Zeon Zoysia and the greens are Prizm Zoysia. The Honors Course – Golf Course Agronomy Internship Overview: The internship at The Honors Course is designed to develop highly motivated and qualified individuals with the skills necessary to advance toward roles as an Assistant Superintendent and, ultimately, Golf Course Superintendent. Interns will gain hands-on experience in maintaining a premier private golf course that adheres to the highest standards of excellence in the industry. The Honors Course provides a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment where quality and precision are paramount. Interns will gain comprehensive exposure to daily golf course maintenance operations. With warm-season grasses, interns will have the unique opportunity to manage TifEagle Ultradwarf Bermudagrass putting greens, Zeon Zoysia tees, fairways, and surrounds, as well as Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass roughs. Internship positions are available for durations ranging from 3 to 12 months. Internship Experience: Interns will participate in a structured, hands-on program where classroom knowledge is applied to real-world golf course operations. Rotations and responsibilities will be tailored to each intern’s prior experience and skill level. We are looking for students to help us regarding maintenance, cultural practices, and completing projects for the summer of 2026. Included are: daily maintenance practices (mowing, water management, bunker maintenance, rolling playing surfaces, topdressing, course setup), an introduction to our organic spraying and fertilizing program, DryJect, putting the final touches and landscaping of a brand new turf maintenance center (18,000 sq. ft. of new space with employee housing components), grow-in of new nurseries and trial plots for in house organic research, and other cultural practices to promote healthy turf. We have also signed on with RainBird to install a new irrigation system starting in August of 2026 and will be planning/preparing in the months leading up to construction. Being involved in organic / sustainable management allows you to think and learn "outside the box" which is a valuable tool for any turf manager moving forward throughout your career.  You will see turf disease(s) and learn how to diagnose, overcome & manage them along with other stresses without traditional pesticides.
