Job Title: Golf Course Superintendent Facility Description: Founded in 1965, Spring Creek Golf & Country Club is a private, member owned country club located in the northern part of the central valley of California. The club is 60 minutes south of Sacramento, an hour and a half from Oakland, and an hour and a half from San Jose. The club built a new clubhouse which opened in 2012. Club facilities include an 18-hole golf course, driving range, putting greens, short game area, bocce ball courts, swimming pool, fitness center, locker rooms, golf shop, a banquet room, and several member dining options. Membership is comprised of nearly 550 members in which 355 are full privilege (golf) members. The golf course is operated year-round and does approximately 34,000 rounds annually. The club has an arid climate and receives very little rain from March through November. December, January, and February are considered the rainy season. The Stanislaus river borders the property. The water source is well water and is of good quality. The club does approximately $7 million in annual revenue. The annual operating budget for the golf maintenance department is approximately $1.25 million with a crew size of 15 to 18. The club sits on 120 acres with eighty acres of maintained turf. The fairways and tees are Bermuda with the greens being bent grass. The course was designed by Robert Hunter (who was Alister McKenzie’s assistant) and is considered to be one of the best in the area. In the past 7 years all of the green complexes and bunkers have been rebuilt with the firm of Robert Trent Jones Jr. leading the effort. The Superintendent reports directly to the General Manager/COO and is an active member of the club leadership team, the Greens Committee, the Long-Range Planning Committee and attends the monthly Board of Directors meeting. The course is located in a 1,100-acre private residential community ideally located between Hilton Head Island, SC and Savannah, GA. The Pete Dye signature golf course was built in 2003.
