Essential Job Functions: · Effectively lead, direct, oversee, develop, train, coach, motivate and assist the golf course Assistant Superintendents and crew. · Scheduling and directing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work to be done and verifying work is completed. · Inspecting the golf course and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and the effect changes in management programs are having. · Working closely with the Director in developing, scheduling, implementing and overseeing activities, goals and plans relating to course conditions and member satisfaction. · Overseeing, directing, and assisting the team in maintaining the condition of the course, including the turf, bunkers, irrigation, fertilization, and pesticide applications. · Overseeing and ensuring inventories of supplies, such as fertilizers, pesticides, tools, and sand, are monitored and replaced as needed. · Communicating with appropriate department heads (golf, catering, food & beverage, etc.) on course conditions, set-up, play, and other matters as needed for the planning and execution of club events or activities. · Ensuring chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local and state regulations. · Assisting in the development and management of the department’s annual budget, including payroll and actuals to budget. · Attending committee, membership, and board meetings as may be requested and participating in management meetings. · Providing for the adequate safety and protection of members, guests, and staff, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and legal requirements. · Attends turf conferences and other educational programs to maintain a current knowledge of technical and turf innovations and changes. · Representing the Club, on and off the property, in an ethical and professional manner that will always enhance the Club’s and staff image and reputation. Experience, Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and Education: · Experience leading, developing, training, overseeing, managing, coaching, motivating, and assisting a golf course team. · A BS, Associate’s Degree, or Certificate in turf grass management, or equivalent experience. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. · Understanding of pest control products and their applications. · Understanding of turf chemicals and fertilizer products, as well as their applications. · Knowledge of irrigation utilization, drainage installation, repair, and maintenance. · Understanding of the game of golf and the impact of agronomic decisions on course playability. · A current state license for pesticide applications, or the ability to acquire a license.
