Position Responsibilities: Daily mowing of all playing surfaces with walk-behind units and riding units. Proper water management (hand watering, using irrigation heads, etc.). Fertilizer and chemical applications (proper calibration and techniques). Proper course set up (daily hole locations, tee locations and detail work). Cultural practices (topdressing, aerification, moisture management, etc.) Irrigation maintenance (irrigation head fixes, pipe repairs, locating/troubleshooting wiring issues). Learning how to manage according to the weather. Communicate well with the crew, management and members. Carry oneself with professionalism in both appearance and demeanor. Understand the importance of networking, career preparation, and record keeping.  Working Conditions: The employee is often required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls. RedStick Golf Club in Vero Beach, Florida is seeking an Assistant Superintendent. RedStick is a Private 18 Hole Golf Club, designed by Rees Jones in 2000. RedStick is open to its membership Mid-October through Mid-May.  RedStick sits on a 330 Acre property consisting of several lakes, wetlands, sand native areas, Scrub Jay habitats, and roughly 110 acres of turf. The playing surfaces consist of Champion greens, Bimini Bermuda fairways and tees, and Turf-Type Tall Fescue Rough.    A successful candidate must be self motivating, hardworking with a sense of urgency, and able to maintain a positive attitude. It is important that the candidate have strong leadership skills, and is team oriented. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent to manage all aspects of the golf course as well as facility grounds. The Assistant will be responsible for the daily supervision of the Agronomy team, including Spray Technicians, Irrigation Technicians, and all full-time and part-time staff.    In February, RedStick will undergo a complete re-grassing project. This will include the installation of a new irrigation system and pump station, new drainage infrastructure, the coring out and installation of USGA spec greens, as well as the coring out and installation of new bunkers throughout the course. All playing surfaces at this time will be converted to Bimini Bermudagrass, with the exception of  Champion on the  greens. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent as well as the contractors to ensure the project flows seamlessly.

The Country Club of York is looking for Student Interns for the 2026 season. This position will give the student all the exposure they will need to become a successful Assistant Superintendent and ultimately to become a Golf Course Superintendent.  The intern will report directly to the Green and Grounds Superintendent and Assistant Golf Course Superintendents.  This person will aid in the direction and participation in maintaining the golf course greens, tees, fairways, and surrounding property as well as being exposed to all aspects of maintaining the golf course from course setup, pesticide applications, water management to managing small crews and everything in between.  You will also be exposed to golf course construction processes in regards to executing the Country Club of York's master plan developed by Golf Course Architect Andrew Green.   These projects are completed by McDonald and Son's Golf Course Builders Inc. in conjunction with the CCY agronomy team.  The 2026 project we will be completing an overhaul of two of our tee complexes. The scope of the project will be demoing the current tee boxes and shifting and building 3-4 new tee boxes on each hole along with the installation of new irrigation.  The members of CCY are committed to continually improving the golf course and we are scheduled to complete at least one major project each year moving forward. The Country Club of York has been chosen by the USGA as the host site for the 2029 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur and the 2035 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championships.   This internship will give the student a great opportunity to build his or her resume.  We are seeking to hire 3 qualified student interns for the 2026 season.
