Augusta Country Club, founded in 1899, is a Donald Ross designed, private equity club located in Augusta, GA. The club is very active, averaging roughly 32,000 rounds a year annually and has a several year waiting list. Over the last decade, the club has invested into the golf course with a new irrigation system and pumpstation installed in 2016, Zoysia shortgrass installation and tree removal in 2018 along with a 2022 Green's Renovation led by Architect Tripp Davis to include new USGA spec Tifeagle greens, sand capped approaches along with greenside and select fairway bunker redesigns. Future projects will include various capital work to include tree plantings, future bunker renovation work, future driving range redesign among other various projects campus wide. The club hosted the GA State Amateur in 2024 with future tournaments over the next decade.  At ACC, Assistant in Trainings are treated similar to Assistant Superintendents in our program. This is a program that you will get out of the program what you put into the program. Over the last several years we have had AIT's move onto other properties in management roles, as well as, moving up internally at the club as opportunities allow. As an Assistant in Training, a normal day would include getting to the property early to help the rest of the management team set up the program for the day's success and task wise ranges from raking bunkers and changing cups to calibrating sprayers and spraying, to working on irrigation/drainage projects all the way up to working with the mechanic team to set up mowers. In 1974 the Club welcomed its first member and now with a thriving membership, offers many sporting and dining amenities including the choice of playing on any one of its six 18-hole championship golf course.  About the Golf Courses: The six 18-hole golf courses, all with different designs, offer challenges for the novice to accomplished golfer and were designed by Arnold Palmer, Tom Fazio, Arthur Hills and Willard C. Byrd. Over the six courses there is an array of warm season grasses including TifEagle, TifGrand, Celebration, 419, Zorro, Zeon, Empire, El Toro and Platinum and cool season Perennial Ryegrass. There are 4 independent maintenance facilities located on the property and the Club has partnered with John Deere on a 4-year lease agreement.  The Club prides itself on continuous improvement and has a long-term capital plan that consists of all future golf course renovations. Some of the projects include: ·      In 2026, work on the Deer Creek course will include strip/flip of greens, collar replacement, and re-grassing of fairways and tees. ·      In 2027 or 2028, there will be a full renovation on the Terrapin Point course. ·      In 2030 and beyond work will begin with phase II of the master plan including irrigation, cart path replacement, tee.  Position Summary: The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will be assigned to the Deer Creek Course. This course is a stand-alone 18-hole property. Each year, this course hosts the Korn Ferry event each spring, The Club Car Championship. The course was completely redone in 2010 by Tom Fazio with Tif Eagle greens and Celebration wall-to-wall. Additionally, the approaches and runoffs were replaced with Tif Grand.   The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction. Activities would include assisting in the budgeting, developing agronomical plans, scheduling, andng the daily activities such as course setup, daily maintenance, cultural practices, chemical application and calibration, irrigation problem solving and repair, and leading projects in construction, renovati then implementions, and enhancements. This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for leading, directing, overseeing, assisting, training, and coaching staff.
